I know this has been asked a million times but i can get good prices on the following gpus (with the recent cuts from NVidia):

Palit 780 super jetstream

Asus 780 DC2OC
https://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/GTX780DC2OC3GD5/
MSI 780 TF OC
http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N780-TF-3GD5-OC.html#overview
eVGA 780 FTW ACX
http://www.evga.com/articles/00746/#3784
Gainward 780 Phantom GLH
http://www.gainward.com/main/vgapro.php?id=915&lang=en

I know that lightning or classified versions are better but they are 150$ more expensive for me than these. The price difference between these is 30$ so that is irrelevant. I have my eye on the palit one as it is very fast on benches but i am not sure about the Palit brand.

It would be interesting to see something like a Sapphire Toxic 290X eventually come out. But I'm pretty sure the OP doesn't intend to wait for that to happen since he's already narrowing down on his choice of a GTX 780.

As for the Titan it has lost its appeal as a gaming card because it has been met with the $550 290X. However the price dropped 780 has taken its place as those with high overclocks are able to match or beat the Titan in games.

It's not a bad choice really, as it is a matured product, packed with features, comes with a game bundle and is not as hot/loud as compared to the 290X (speaking of right now of course)
I'll pick the EVGA GPU.
It has the ACX cooler which is one of the best in class , a 1033MHz boost rate which reaches close if not equal to a Titan on its stock.
Also the GPU looks good.
The ASUS DCII seems to be another choice if your concerned about warranty , although EVGA has the best service in USA from what I've heard.
The MSI make is good for the color scheme of red and black , and it performs well too.
I would bring it down to the ASUS and EVGA models.
P.S - The R9-290X is also a great option. It on stock knocks most 780s and has some OC headroom. If you can wait for a month , wait. I am sure that the custom coolers like the Vapor-X , Toxic , ICEQX2 , etc will make the 290X a better high end single GPU choice for ya.

I was definitely looking at the r9 290x but the extremely high temps and now with the nvidia price cuts and game bundles i changed my mind. It is true that custom coolers will reduce the temps but they should reduce it by 30 degrees to match these. My current gpu is radeon 6870 so I have no favorites.

Reasons to consider the 290X -
1. The 290X is at par with the Titan.
2. If the Case has great airflow , 80's to 90's wont even come.
3. The 7970 has a same story. But the custom coolers saved the day didn't they ?
4. On paper it can be proved that most high end custom coolers have the ability to cool the 290X at its best.
5. It is cheaper than the Titan by a huge margin.

Yes, i agree with you, but here is the math i made (I should also mention that i am in Europe so prices may be a bit different):

evga 780 is 735$ inc. VAT + 3 free games
290x reference is 900$ inc. VAT + battlefield 4

if we look at the 7970 reference vs non-reference here there was 100$ difference between them (compared to Vapor X). So is 290x worth +265$? Amd will probably reduce the prices a bit here, so it comes to this basically in my situation:
780 now or wait for 290x +150$

No, i am buying in Slovenia, they seem to price the AMD ones higher than in other countries. I ordered the EVGA dual FTW ACX SC, thanks everybody, i even got a 30$ discount because i also bought a psu :)

I have been waiting to buy a new card to replace my 5870 for a couple of months now. I waited for the 290x to come out as I was going to go with that, but its too hot, too loud.

As AMD have forced NVIDIA to slash prices, I have went with the Gainward GTX 780 Phantom. It seems much more reliable in keeping the GPU frequency stable and runs almost silent. Cost me £373 from dabs.com :)
