Greetings. Above are the parts of my personal computer, which i built about a year ago. I think it is about time i get a descent graphics card, and since i intend on playing games on 1920x1080, a GTX 970 will hopefully be enough. The question remains: Which one to pick? I really do not know the difference and that is why i am here. What is the difference between an EVGA GTX 970 and an MSI 970 for example? And most importantly, which one should i pick? Money isn't really an issue. I don't mind paying a bit more if its better quality or something. EVGA is apparently the most popular, so should i just buy that? Note that I intend on buying my graphics card from amazon, as it is the only retailer that ships to my country. Your help is much appreciated.

I have owned the Asus Strix GTX 970.

It is silent gaming and the fans rarely spin up unless you go above 60 degrees. it overclocks well too.

The best in catagory for me is the MSI, it has the best overclocking ability and is also silent. You can't go wrong with any card really unless you need a specific type/colour to match your colour theme if you geek out over that kind of thing....

Zotac are also building really good hardware these days so don't be put off buying any of their products too - it usually saves ~$40 and they perform the same.

What games do you intend on playing ?

Maxwell Gen 2 cards (GTX 960/970/980/Titan X) have DX12 Feature Level 12_1 with Resource Binding Tier 2
AMD cards only support DX12 Feature Level 12_0 with Resource Binding Tier 3.

AMD have really dropped a clanger there which im peeved at because if Nvidia get even more control in the GPU market they can essentially charge what they like, within reason and people will pay it.

Gigabyte 9xx are the best in my and many other's opinion. But be sure to get the gaming edition, it offers higher clock speed and better cooling, this also comes with a backplate. Be aware of the Asus Strix, community says that Asus failed with the 9xx series. Also EVGA 970's and 980's had coil whine from my own experiece and also they overheat because the heatsink and the fan is not enough, so I suggest U to avoid Asus and EVGA. Msi is also a good choice, it's more silent than Gigabyte but has lesser performance. I suggest U to get Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 Gaming only at $358.89 (Amazon.com). I own a Gigabyte GTX 980 G1 Gaming and I can say it's a very good GPU. Maybe 2x 970 SLI would be better than a single 980, so if U'll think about an upgrade just get another 970 to SLI them.
