Which GTX 970?

Hi I'm building a computer and I'm wondering what GTX 970 to get with a i7-4790K?

Best ones from each brand:
MSI: Gaming 4G, the red or green one (only green one has backplate)
Asus: Strix (has backplate)
Gigabyte: G1 (has backplate, mind the length if you have a small case)
EVGA: SSC and FTW+ (only FTW+ has backplate, although for the SSC you can order a backplate from EVGA)

There's some more good ones too, maybe from Zotac or Inno3d, but I don't know much about their temps/noise and such.

My friend has been using the Asus Strix one and it's good. He has an i7 processor too, but if I recall it was probably the i7-4770. Similar, nonetheless.

I usually look for the card with the fastest core clock out of the box. Generally (but not always) it will be the highest binned chip and have the best chance for good OC'ing.

If the OP is asking what card, he probably doesn't know what a backplate is or why he would or wouldn't need one.

I look for a combo of the highest clock, low price and most fans.
The Gigabyte windforce seems to tick all the boxes.

The gigabyte ones also come with the best I/O's having 3 DP, 2 DVI and a HDMI on them, it also OC's the highest, at least last time I checked, thanks to the very good cooler, though it is louder then say the ASUS Strix or MSI Gaming 4G.
