which gtx 980 manufacturer makes the quietest graphics cards? also will this setup run the card?

I was thinking I'd buy the card first and put it in my old computer with a new powersupply then build my own computer a few months later and throw in the new card.

will this cpu work with it until I can upgrade?

I'm not sure why it wouldn't. Since its that old I wouldn't be surprised if the CPU will be bottlenecking the full performance of a 980. But if you're planning on upgrading in the future I don't think that's to big of a deal.

As for quietest I don't think there is a hands down winner. Personally I like EVGA cards. They have a refurb section too if you want to save some money as well, but I don't think any 980s are in stock right now. http://www.evga.com/Products/ProductList.aspx?type=8

Did you check the case and motherboard configuration to make sure it can fit a large card like the 980? Gateways are not exactly made for upgrading to high end cards.
