Hello everyone :giggle:,
I'm looking for an 8TB HDD with at least 7200 rpm, 256 MB of cache, not too loud and powerful.
It's doesn't matter if it is external or internal. My maximum budget is around 250 euros.
I already bought the WD D10 but I returned it because it was too noisy.

Many people recommended me not to buy Seagate and Toshiba products because they are not good, so I'm looking for a WD product.

I saw there are many HDD like this (sorry the links are in Italian): https://www.amazon.it/WD-Red-Pro-NA...t=&hvlocphy=1009008&hvtargid=pla-854872884436 or

https://www.google.it/shopping/prod...&ved=0ahUKEwjshZ-ex-DnAhWKw6YKHcfCC4UQ8wII2QM

or the WD purple that have specs like that. In your opinion which is the best HDD with that specs?

Sorry for my bad English, thanks to everybody who will help me! :giggle:

What do you mean by the disk being "powerful" ?

Normally, this factors are often related to disk noise:
  • Cheaper price : more noise
  • Higher performance (sequential reads and seek time) : more noise
  • Higher RPM (and thereby performance) : more noise
Maybe this youtube video can provide you with some answer:

With "powerful" I mean an HDD as fast as possible. I'm gonna use that HDD for making music and I have to open big files (
hundreds of giga) in a short time I watched the video, but I have to buy a 7200 rpm HDD, 5400 is too slow.
I understood that more powerful is the HDD more noise will make, but the WD D10 make too noise even for a black WD.
In fact, if you read the reviews on amazon everybody complains about the annoying noise.

If your hd is to loud (depending on the drive, not all have it) you may want to look at these settings before you return it..
Acoustically Manage Your Hard Drive

I read it, but I'm looking for an easier solution. If there is an hard disk that costs as D10 with the same velocity and less noise, I would prefer it.

Ok, thanks to everybody! I don't why I decided to do not return this shitty noisy HDD and now it's too late for doing it.
I'm gonna try this crap for some weeks and then i will decide if buy a new one (i would like to buy one 8tb WD black, but inside the pc, not an external hdd) or keep using this <Mod Edit> disk.

Edit: @scottfree1_01 I tried the method you linked, but my HDD doesn't support the AAM

@Grobe Sorry, I don't speak good english, it's not easy for me to understand what you are saying. I do not understand what you wanted to say.
My WD D10 is in the box, the default box for the WD D10 8Tb, but I'm thinking to put the HDD in a bigger box and to fill the box with soundproofing panels.
Btw thanks for the reply! :giggle:
