hey i had another post yday where i figured that i chose really badly (a NAS hdd drive) so i will return that and i need your opinion on what hdd to choose, mainly for games that i dont want to have on my ssd, and music files.
i am between these atm
WESTERN DIGITAL WD5000AAKX 500GB CAVIAR BLUE SATA3 (sadly the shop doesnt have the 1tb version of this drive)
SEAGATE ST1000DM003 1TB BARRACUDA 7200.14 SATA3
WESTERN DIGITAL WD10EZRX CAVIAR GREEN 1TB SATA3

questions: is the 500gb one faster than the other two in anyway so i might have to consider sacrificing 500 extra gb?
is intellipoint better than 7200 rpm ? and about cache i guess 64mb is better (need confirmation)

i can buy any hdd on that site at like 60euro budget. i just think these are the most fitting tell me if i am wrong:) thanks in advance

Sounds like a plan! Personally, I'd buy a Western Digital over a Seagate, but that's just me; Seagate is still a great name.

i dont think this fits me, i got an 120gb ssd to boot my system and have a couple of games i want to play on maximum performance. Wolverines answer though made me doubt about seagate...i might have to toss a coin between seagate and WD hahah

Most gamers usually game online. If you are going online, I would think the network lag would overwhelm any hard disk performance, unless you have some crazy disk activity.

For speed I think SSD would be the best option, but its expensive. For reliability and "cheaper" option I would go WD black. I have not had bad experience with it, yet.

That's exactly the reason why it does. A 120 GB SSD might fit 1-3 games, leaving all the rest on the slower HD. Put Far Cry 3 on the SSHD for example, and by the 3rd load, the firmware will have moved all the frequently used files from FC3 to the SSD. Two weeks later you finish the game and start FC4..... again, in the background, the firmware will move all the FC3 files off the SSD portion and replace them those from FC4. So every game gets the advantage of SSD like speeds without the hassle of moving them back and forth.

This may help in the decision making ... HD Return rates for last two sales periods (in french).

i want speed on my hdd mainly for loading times and save games, i play games like turn based strategy, or RTS like europa universalis that frequently autosave...i guess i could put some of them to save me on my hdd though but the loading times would still be an issue in games that load levels, maps etc, thats why i want a fast one

thank you jack for your input, didnt know that the ssd part can work like this... still i am way out of budget already (just bought new PC) so i will prefer the cheaper ones...i will go with the green one then and its settled...thanks all for your help
