Which Headset is Best?

A few years ago i bought a pair of Turtle Beach DPX21's and they were excellent. until the cable broke...twice. Couldnt get the right speaker to work after the second break.

Anyway, my budget is 200$ and ive mostly been looking at the V-Moda Crossfade LP's and the Razer Tiamat 7.1's. now I know they are very different one being a 7.1 headset with a mic and the other more of an audiophile pair of headphones. I have an AT2020 condenser mic and my GD-65 motherboard has support for 7.1 sound without a sound card. So in the end it really comes down to audio quality and i think i know the answer, especially since the V-Moda's have a bigger frequency range but i would like some outside opinions. Any help is much appreciated!

P.S. I game probably as much as i do listen to music on my computer

P.S.S. Bonus question - would the V-Moda's work with my Turtle Beach DSS for simulated surround sound, they say they will work with "almost any" stereo headset on their website.

I say this a lot on here. Get SteelSeries. I have had SO MANY horrible experiences with Turtle Beaches, they have horrible drivers in my opinion etc.

Oh believe me i'm not buying from Turtle Beach again after my last soldering exploit, there was no way the right speaker could NOT be working unless the cord was broken somewhere in the headband lol.

TB fails reliably. I really like the Siberia Elite, but it's too much for me. If that's in your budget though, I would think it would be one of the best on the market. Myself, I simply opt for the time-tested Siberia V2.

Not bad, I have to give credit to their engineers for those lights and the controls, pretty creative. Not sure if i'm a fan of the circular earcups though (as opposed to oval) but I'm liking the frequency response on them.

Actually, the Steelseries Siberia V2 has a pretty good microphone for a headset of it's price.
But there are better alternatives if you could settle for a desktop microphone or modmic and then get non-gaming headphones.

With a $200 budget, you could possibly get a Sennheiser 558 or 518 and then pair it with a modmic or a decent desktop one, and you will get really good sound quality, and pretty good microphone quality too.

What I have myself is the Shure 440's and paired with my desktop microphone they are very good at music listening, movie watching, and gaming. You should take a look into those, they're only about $100, and I would get the Shure 840 replacement pads, setting the whole thing to about $120.

I have the Siberia V2 I got them on sale at best buy 2 months ago, the drivers are reliable, the microphone retracts etc. Its a really nice headset. Also the cups go all the way around your ear which is a big +. The headset is self adjusting as well.
