which intel nuc should i get?

I was looking at the intel nuc and i saw there were two options

i wil be doing some gaming and mostly using it for daily use

The iGPU from Intel has come a long way and it really depends on the gaming in question. Plenty of older games that run very well, and even some newer ones that aren't bad with low settings.

Well it doesn't come with a drive, so it stands to reason there is no OS.

If you do want it for gaming, you should head on up to the i5 so you get the HD640 graphics.

I like a little longevity in my devices. Nothing wrong with an i3-7100u it is a decent ultrabook processor. But I would almost go ahead and get the laptop. And then I lean towards the big MQ and HQ processors when I shop for mobile parts.

If space is your biggest concern, you could get more performance out of an SFF or USFF form factor computer and barely double the size.

The NUC has an i3-7100u in it. You can get a laptop with the same CPU, have all the same features, and have it be a portable machine with an OS, battery, screen, touchpad, speakers, and keyboard all in one.

There are small form factor desktop PCs that take up little space, have external power bricks like a NUC, but have desktop or low-power desktop processors. After you include the OS, drive, and memory it would be about the same as buying a NUC.

You have to understand CPUs have hierachies. A Celeron is the lowest-power CPU available: multiple features are disabled. An i3-7100U will have more processing power than a quad-core Celeron.
