which is a better choice?

my mother board says it is dual channel, like most, and it has 4 memory slots. I want to install 16GB of ram but want to know if it would be better to use two 8s, or four 4s?

Yes if it supports 8GB sticks then that's the way to go, less stress on the MC (memory controller) with 2 opposed to 4 sticks
