I assume you mean best CPU... I assume since you're buying for them then you don't want to OC it yourself... so its about a coin flip between a I5 4670 (non k since I don't figure you're gonna OC) and an FX 8350 (would say 8320 but if you don't plan to OC it then you might as well start faster). Either should do the job very well and for a very similar price.

The Intel processor is $20 more, what does it do differently? I'm new with PCs. Also they do have a 10% or 20% overclock would you recommend that? I heard that The 8 core AMD is not necessary unless you render or do anything of the sort (which I don't, so would it be a good choice. I do have fraps though, because I have recorded small things on minecraft and might record some on BF4) Thanks for the response. I resent it because I might have done something on the last response.

If you can get a better 970 board (M5A97 R2.0, GA-970A-UD3) for a similar price, which would allow you to OC, then I don't see why you would go with the MSI board. That's all I was trying to say.

A 4670 would perform better than an AMD 8 core in most games.

The intel processor is faster at anything that doesn't require more than 4 cores (which is in excess of 90% of all programs that exist) however newer programs are starting to run better on AMD than they used to BF4 seems to be nearly identical between the two processors, there are likely to be more games in the future that are built similarly. But if the total price for the Intel rig is $20 more I would build intel every time. As for the OC yes I guess if they'll do it for you (and you assume they know what they are doing, I have no idea) then that would be an option. Up to you on that decision. I would probably build an intel rig if the 4670 option was $20 more, maybe around the $100 line I would switch to AMD since it would allow me to step up my gpu a level for the same price.
