Just the k version is unlocked for overclocking provided you have the right motherboard, whereas the 4690 is a locked processor and cheaper if you don't plan to overclock.

The k version will have an effect on gaming performance only if you overclock it, at stock it'll perform exactly the same as the locked version. That board will work with the 4690
