If power draw isn't an issue from your PSU, then Vega. If you want power efficiency and better eye details, the GTX1070.

They perform very similar to each other. As mentioned above, the 1070 is a bit easier on the power. Meaning it will cost you less to power it. If they are the same price then I'd get the 1070.

Correct. That PSU is large enough to handle either card. Unless the Vega 56 runs your favorite game better, I still stand by the idea that the 1070 is the "better" card. It should perform similarly while costing less to run over time.

It's just that the freesync monitors are half the price of gsync, so I'll be getting a freesync monitor and the performance is similar so I thought I should go Vega.

Well you didn't mention freesync. I assumed you were going with a normal monitor. To be honest it's your money. I know the 1070 will perform similar while using less power. Assuming 60Hz monitors that's the one I would go with. Yes, monitor choice will change that.

Thank you that helps, power consumption is of no concern as long as my psu can take it.

Power consumption is a concern for me seeing as I pay for it. Why buy a 225W GPU when a 150W GPU provides the same FPS? That's an extra 75W being used while you game, and more heat going into the room. Over the life of the GPU, that's more money being spent. But not everyone is as tight as me? LOL.
