Which is better 2.5Hz or 5.0Hz?

Solution
Dual band is dependent on your router. There are two basic frequencies for WIFI. 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. There is much more congestion on 2.4 because that was popular first. If you live in an apartment or condo an have a dozen neighbors WIFI visible those are probably 2.4Ghz signals. If you have a newer phone or tablet it may be dual band and can show you what 5Ghz WIFI is visible also. You can only use ONE BAND at a time for a particular client. Your PC could use 2.4Ghz OR 5Ghz but not both.

The 450Mbit specification for this card is ALSO dependent on the router you have. To get 450Mbit at 2.4Ghz the client and router have to use three radios simultaneously. If you have an N300 or even N150 router you WON'T get 450Mbit...

Thanks that helped. How can you tell if your router broadcast both? isn't one usually mark media? If its only broadcasting one channel can you make it broadcast two or change the frequency of the one?

Basically what do you do to see what your router supports?

Usually the easiest way is either to look at the manufacturer's page or check the wireless settings page(s) in the router. IF the router is dual band there will be some reference to 5Ghz in the wireless settings page(s).

If you check the manufacturer's page (Google by model number), and see something like N150, N300 then it is only a 2.4Ghz unit. Dual band routers are N600 or above. To support your 450Mbit, you would be looking for an N900 or better router. An "AC" router would also be dual band by definition.
