Which is better? A 24 inch 1440p 144hz monitor or a 24inch 1080p 144hz monitor with G-Sync?

Depends on your budget. Personally I wouldn't buy a 1080p Screen in 2017 if you got the funds

However if you're running a GTX 970 and don't plan on upgrading anytime soon keep in mind that a 1440p 165Hz is wasted until you buy and adequate GPU.

For my next upgrade I'm planning to buy a gtx 1060 6gb. My current gpu is a gtx 1050 but I play mostly Dota 2 and my fps go over 100+ fps. Do you think the 1440p is worth it for maybe general browsing and stuff or should I just go with the 1080p.

Update: I just realised the 1440p monitor also has G-Sync however it is a TN panel so the question is changing to do I choose higher resolution or an IPS panel instead of a TN panel

So is it safe to say the Dell monitor is better than the Acer Predator? I'm sorry if I might be asking the same question I just need confirmation since I'll be using this monitor for a very long time

if you're using it for "a long time" I'd go for the Dell. you can tune it down to 1080p and still looks alright until your card can handle 1440p.
we're at the verge of phasing out 1080p and jumping to 1440p. the next "GTX 1060" will most likely be targeted at the 1440p market. So the Dell is the smarter buy imo.

from my experience, dell monitors are very well built. Acer monitors are just ok - more specs with less quality control.
anyway, 1440p@144Hz monitor will be good for many years to come. so just go for it.
