Which is better? Boost overclock or Base overclock

I am curious what is the better route of overclocking the Intel CPU's with turbo boost? I am currently running the stock base clock with boost jumping to 4.2Ghz, but i noticed many of the benchmarks report only the base 3.6Ghz numbers on the report.

What CPU do you have? I usually recommend to overclock the base clock alongside the boost clock rather than one or the other.
