Currently building a new rig and I'm wondering if I need the Ryzen 7 3700x or I can stick with the Ryzen 7 2700x to save some bucks. Not trying to bottleneck.

Solution
The 2700x should be fine, however if you are looking for very high FPS, then I'd look at a 3600, 3600x or 3700x. Honestly, the 3600 or 3600x are more than enough for any current graphics card and pretty much any FPS you want to shoot for. Benchmarks don't show significant FPS increase for most games when going from the 3600 to the 3700x. Getting fast memory, with any of these CPUs, is probably even more important than which CPU you get however at this late stage of the game, it really doesn't make a lot of sense to buy a 2nd Gen Ryzen unless you absolutely have to shave costs off the budget.
