Which is better. WHy

I'm buying a graphics card to complete my build soon and these are the two I'm looking at

I was going to just order the amd one but I started reading about physx and watched some vids and it seemed pretty cool. If the difference in fps is only a few I'll go with the nvidia. But if it's somewhere around 9 or more I'll go with the amd.

I have an i5-3570. 8 gb of ram. And a 650 watt psu. I want to play stuff like Skyrim, fallouts, starcraft, End of Nations, and Elder Scrolls Online.

I you can suggest a better card for around the same price I'm willing to get a card other than these two.

The 7870 performs better in almost every benchmark I have seen. Physx is rarely used in games and offers only a slight advantage. The 7870 has a larger memory bus, so if you use Anti Aliasing I would buy the 7870. Of the two you mentioned the 7870 is cheaper, but that card is extremely large, so if your case is tight or you plan to do sli/crossfire I would choose a different card. Also the 7870 uses about 35 watts more than the 660 so again if you plan to do sli/crossfire the 660 might be the way to go.

here's the latest chart with the latest drivers. disregard the 4gig ice-Q benchmarks ( price also much higher than "standard" ) and look for the "standard" 7870 in the charts. you'll see the 660 plasters it ( hate fanboys )............. yes, physx is neat and brings extra to the game if you choose to go that route.

According to the benchmarks shown by swifty_morgan, the 660 performed better, and has less latency/micro-stutter issues to boot.

sorry for off posting but.............. tom's has to be screwed up in some way. i've been having flood error a lot in the past few days. maybe somebody needs to look into that?
