which is better

hi all
I am a bit confused between two configurations. I have an option to either get
1- core i7 1st gen q740 with amd 5870m vga card
2- core i7 2nd gen 2630qm with nvidia gtx 460m
From what I have read is that 5870m is better than gtx 460m whereas 2630qm is better than q740. so kindly can u help me choose as to which configuration would be more preferable? also just to add that these both configs are available in asus rog series, which I am interested in as they run really cool. hope to hear from u all. thanks in advance.

I'm assuming these are laptops your talking about? (considering those are mobile chipsets)
What will you be using this machine for? Gaming? Productivity software? Media center?

What you have read is correct.
For general purpose usage, the 2nd system is better.
For games, the first system is better.

For general use and gaming, I would go with the more powerful CPU. (the second one).
