AMD r9 285 or R9 280X
It is also mentioned that the 285 supports trueaudio technology whereas the 280X does not?
Is 'Trueaudio' something significant for gamers and which would be better @ 1080p
Also note that the 280X has 1 Gb more VRAM and a wider bus

280X is more powerful. The 285 is equivalent to a 280 in performance. The 280X is the next performance tier up.

Trueaudio is a feature that was previously only available on 3 cards: R7 260X, R9 290 and 290X. Since the 285 is a new GPU version (GCN 3.0) it gets Trueaudio. This tech has not been widely used in games at this time, I only know of the game "Thief" that uses it.

As for memory, the extra 1gb will give you a bit more longevity as games become for memory hungry. The "need" for more memory depends on the game.

R9 280X is better option than R9 285. r9 285 sits between R9 280 and R9 280X. Read these reviews for better understanding.

Yes, it will definitely. But i would still recommend you to consider 280X
