im just curious which would be better for gaming.

AMD FX-6350 3.9GHz 6-Core Processor OR Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor... or should i choose another intel CPU... the reason i ask is because im not please with the amd fx-6350... im getting cpu lag spikes and just the other day my computer just froze for no apparent reason. Im not sure if i have it configured wrong or something but i think ni wanna go intel.

The i7 4790k is much much much better than the FX-6350. It's much more expensive as well.

Freezing generally does not happen to normal systems, even if the CPU is slower. So there's another problem.

What's your motherboard?
What's your power supply?
What are your CPU, VRM & motherboard temperatures?
Did you overclock?

have you try fixing your fx-6350? is the setup right? is it overheating? did you over clock? does your motherboard support overclock? etc etc.
If i were you I'll try to fix your fx6350 before getting a new set of everything.
some time it could be a simple fix. and that fix will save you 100s or maybe 1000 in your case thinking of getting i7 setup.
and sometime computer froze doesn't have to do with CPU. it could be ram, motherboard, hdd. so don't just jump to conclusion.

So my mottherboard is : Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard
My Power Supply : Rosewill Green 630W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply

My temps right now while im just on this forum are: my cpu is 31 degrees celsius My MB is 21 degrees

I dont overclock.

Im not necessarily sure that any thing is messed up with the cpu. I dont really think i know how to "fix" my cpu.

have update your video card driver from the official webpage? don't be lazy and use windows update to update video card driver.

it doesn't have to be cpu.
example 1.
I have a computer once with EVGA 780i Motherboard. if i have too many hdd connect to it. it will froze randomly and for a quick fix. i need to unplug and plug my sata cable from my motherboard and hdd then do a reboot. that is not a cheap motherboard back in the days.

example 2
I had a computer with random froze and that time it was my ram. and the ram and computer were both new.

so no. it doesn't have to be your CPU. it can be anything. that is the fun part of building your own computer. caz anything can go wrong and it fun fixing it.
don't you think building a new computer is a easy fix neither. caz new build can have a different problem too.

i use the nvidia program to update my driver and it runs once a week to checck for updates... also i mean i have corsair vengence ram and from what ive read that seems like a pretty good brand of RAm so i dont think it would be that.... but every once in a while it will freeze and just quit my games so im going to have to keep tweakingg stuff to find a solution

you may want to uninstall old driver before you update/install new driver. it may help.

they are example. and yes corsair vengence ram a pretty good but you can be the unlucky person who got the one that doesn't work all the time.
it happens. the ram i got wasn't some cheap ram too. but it just so happen that i was the unlucky person.

by the way don't use the temp at reboot. run a pi test and look at the temp. load temp and idle temp can be differ by a lot. and they do go up and down very fast.
same thing go by video card too. do a test and see the load temp.

by the way have you try google "World of WArships and my computer just froze"?
