Both will perform close to the same for games but with the Ryzen you get more threads and the ability to overclock. Also the stock cooler for Ryzen is actually good. Personally I would go with Ryzen, its also cheaper.

All the various 8th gen i5s are close to the same in perfomrance, there's really only two consider the 8400 or the 8600K with a Z board to overclock. Again I would get the 2600, the savings can be put to something else on your computer
I agree with Richiestang_78 The AMD Ryzen 5 2600 is more modern, built on a smaller process node, 2 times as many threads as the i5, and the platform is much cheaper than the I5 platform. The I5 costs almost $60 dollars more in some cases, for less performance.
