question :-which is important feature in GPU Brand base boost memory clock speed of GTX 1660 SUPER OR GTX1080TI?

I am planning new desktop PC ryzen 7 3700x or 2700x build for video editing rendering graphics 3D designing architecture web designing and video streaming. for that some one advised recommended in Tomshardware forum GTX 1650 super or GTX 1660 super or GTx 1080ti .

when I was searching to purchase some graphics card then found that different brands like gigabyte, Asus, MSI, zotac, inno3D, EVGA, Galax but found that many models of bends have different Base clock or boost clock or memory clock speed which one is more important in concern for video editing.

  5. Asus Rog Poside. 1595. 1773. 1376
  6. Asus Rog strix. 1569. 1683. 1376
As above comparison I have compared the base clock speed boost clock speed and memory clock speed which has been altered in different model of brands which I think will effect reflect in working of card which will boost in speed performance.

Now queries in my mind:-

Q1. Does brand Asus MSI gigabyte Zotac colourful matters while purchasing GPU in warranty services performance features component heatsink quality dies quality or any other concern which brand is good and which is not good to purchase

Q2. Which Model in which brand is good as while looking to Boost in clock apeed in found generally that as in zotac AMP or PGF extreme is generally boosted in Asus Rog strix or TUF model and in gigabyte Arius or Gaming extreme and in colourful the Kundan model and in Inno3D Ichill X3 models are generally boasted in Base or boost clock speed or memory clock speed.

Q3. Which clock speed Base Boost clock is good to be increase in any chipset of GPU. As I think base clock speed is minimum speed the GPU will start to work from and Boost clock is speed is maximum which a GPU can reach on load or can be overclocked to....as I think Base clock speed if increased in any model will give better performance........for example as in Zotac GTX 1880ti AMP extreme model have base clock speed 1646 MHz and boost clock speed 1759 mhz and memory clock speed 1659 mhz whereas in colourful IGame GTX 1080ti Kundan have base clock speed 1657mhz and boost clock speed in 1784Mhz and memory clock speed is 1376 MHz whereas gigabyte Arius water force extreme GTx 1080ti have base clock speed 1608mhz boost clock speed 1721 MHz and memory clock speed is 1404mhz.

Q4. What is difference in memory clock speed and memory bandwidth whats clock speed and babdwidth effects in performance as GTx 1650 super memory clock speed is 1500mhz. And bandwidth is 192mbps. GTx 1660 super memory clock speed is 1750mhz -2027mhz And bandwidth is 288mbps GTx 1080 super memory clock speed is 1251mhz-1350mhz. And bandwidth is 320mbps and GTx 1080ti memory clock speed is 1376mhz- 1404 mhz And bandwidth is 484mbps

Q5. What will DDR6 or DDR5 effect on performance of video editing rendering as 4gb 6 GB ddr6 in gtx 1660 super compared to 8gb 11gb ddr5 in GTx 1880ti

Q6. As therotically base clock speed boost clock speed RAM memory size clock speed and memory bandwidth all tigether plays role depends on performance and speed which can be tested through benchmark or tests. Is there any website link where I can test the GPU related to video editing rendering 3d graphic designing base performance test. As I have seen but there is tests for gaming fps but not much tests for Video editing rendering applications. If any one can share the link for benchmark test for different brands to see the practical performance test.

Q7. Do GPU effects in quality for video editing rendering means there any effect on quality of graphics quality or FPS while exporting converting rendering videos somewhere I readed about dropage of FPS with graphic card but no test or benchmark I found . Which parameterr feature if graphic card shaders TMU ROPs cuda cores should be most important for quality of output in video rendering export playback quality and speed. Any article benchmark kindly share the link opinions for the same tests benchmark.

Q8. Any other parameter feature in your opinion should be concerned and most important to match in different brand models in content creation video editing rendering graphic 3d designing animations.

Q9. As i am novice in video editing rendering i used to do DTP graphic designing and want to learn and start with video editing skills fir 4k editing as I am learning premier pro after effects 3d max AutoCAD revit as per your opinion Which GPU is good for starting nvidea or amd gtx 1650 super or gtx 1660 super or gtx 1070 or gtx 1080 or gtx 1080ti or rx590. As gtx 1080ti is ddr5 and have more 8gb or 11gb ram and more cuda cores but less base boost memory clock speed as. Compared to gtx 1650 super or gtx 1660super...

I thank you and be grateful in advance for your precious time advice opinion and will be obliged for sharing your knowledge.

You're overthinking this.

First, you don't compare different GPUs by clock speed. A 1080 Ti is always going to be a much more powerful GPU than a 1660 Super and a 1660 Super is always going to be more powerful than a 1650 Super. Similar to CPUs, clock speeds only serve as a direct comparison when looking at the same GPU, not different GPUs.

Second, within the same GPUs, while the cards with higher clock speed will have a tendency to be slightly better performers, the differences tend to be very small. The differing clock speeds in the same line of GPU is just because companies bin their GPUs according to their performance so that they can have some product segmentation.

This is true. You cannot simply compare clock speed and TMU ROPs because you're looking at different chips across several different generations.

Simply put, performance wise:

  1. 1080 Ti/2070 Super/2080/5700 XT
  2. 1080/2060 Super/2070/5700/(possibly 3060)
  3. 1070 Ti/2060/5600 XT
  4. 1070/1660 Ti
  5. 1660 Super
  6. 1660/590
  7. 1650 Super/5500 XT
Clock speeds only matter between different versions of the same gpu

ie You can only compare 1080 Ti with another 1080 Ti in terms of clock speeds. All a higher clock speed means is essentially a better tuned gpu. (think of those people who tune their cars to crazy horsepower levels). To get this tuning right out of the box (because it isn't necessary that you will reach this rog strix tuned level with a cheaper gpu, example Asus tuf) so they charge more for tuning it right from the factory.

Different models (ROG Strix, Gigabyte Aorus etc) have changes in the clock rates, overclocking potential (VRM quality), cooling and looks. Cooling is essential, and Asus' "DUAL" line of gpu has very bad cooling. Gigabyte's Windforce is way better imo, but again depends on individual gpu.

This is list of VRM and cooling tiers, and a general idea but not necessarily universal.

Customer service does vary, by region especially. Where I live, MSI has completely trash service whereas Asus and Gigabyte have much better service. Colorful seems sketchy, so does Inno3D. Zotac and Galax have a decent reputation.

For the money, at $400, the 3060 Ti 8GB will outperform every single one of the cards you have stated.

The first thing you should do is pick a gpu (preferably 3000 or 2000/1600 super series or even the new AMD cards for example, you can probably get a used 1080 Ti for $300-400, at which point a 3060 ti would be a better deal)
Then check which brands have good service near you
Then pick a model of the gpu from the brands you can buy from.

@Prad_Bitt and @DSzymborski thank you bro I am to greatfulll obliged for your precious advice time and opinion and your esteemed opinion advice and knowledge sharing . sorry for late reply as I watched your reply I went to finding specs and benchmark for 3060ti and 3070 and 3080 specs and prices to reply you and my affordability.

I to know previously that 1080ti 1650 1660 super all are of different chipset and to compare between inter chipset sepcs like base boost clock speed and memory bandwidth is wrong....actually my query was dies clock speed memory clock speed memory bandwidth cores makes difference as in 1080ti 2080ti 3080 3060ti 3070 the default chipset clock speeds are Less and they have some have ddr5 but more cuuda cores more time and tops

Yes I had previously planned and selected interested in old used gtx 1080ti as it matches and outperforms gtx 2070 but concern was that 1080ti had ddr5x and secondly the main glitch and drawback of gtx 1080ti chipsets that it's default clock speed is 1481/1531/1376 and have positives of 11gb ddr5x and more cuda cores shaders TMU so my question was as company models Asus rog strix gigabyte arous extreme MSI lightining x zotac amp have boosted the speed 1080 ti chipset speed from 1481/1582/1376. To 1608/1721/1400 then as the speed is boosted then will it outperform 2080 or 2080ti secondly that that the boosted speed advertised is marketing glitch or real and does ddr6 ddr5 and clock speed matters and which gtx 1080ti model company should I go for buying as pugetsystem benchmarks it shows chipsets benchmarks but not model wise comparison of benchmark so want to confirm...kindly suggest from below

GTX 1080ti 11GB DDR5x 352bit banwidth 352mbps cuda 3584 TMU 224 ROPs 88

@Prad_Bitt bro thanks again for your advice and grateful for your opinion...

as I was planning to purchase go for gtx 1080ti because I was thinking old series used old GPU will be easily available in economical cost as new one is beyond the purchase as in India brand

GPU Brand new. Old used
1080ti $1041 to $1336 $210 to $384.
2080ti. $1458. to 1758. $210 to $400
3080 $1438 to 1767. $280 to $980
3070. $910 to. 1048. $270 to $753
3060ti. $633 to 795. $450 to $650
Gx1070 $590 to 787. $254 to $ 440
Gx1660 $289 to 300. $220 to $270
As above prices is converted price from Rs to dollar value to just make easy to compare and giving you an idea...the old prices is demanded price by the seller and I founded from Indian classified websites and the sellers says its 6 months to 12 months used and have 2 years or 3 years extended warranty left except 1080 ti have no warranty left as it's launched in 2017 and old that have warranty left are expensive may be $383 to $480

I was not thinking above gtx 1st gen ie 1650 and 1080 range as prices were to high but lotz of thanks to your advice I tried to find compare other prices and specs but now founded rtx 3080 rtx 3070 affordable in my range

Now after comparing old prices as old rtx 3080 or rtx 3070 I founded in range of $270 to $ 280 and sellers displayed it's 2 - 6. Months used and have warranty of 2.5 years left hope they are not lying and is not being used for mining they said they used for gaming and upgrading to new launches but still sounds fishy hoping not being a fraud or trap..is there any tool software that can check from sellers pc log that the GPU used hours or errors or health of gpu....any registry where such I do is saved In pc...

But again the question is same that the chipset of rtx 3080 (ddr6x 10GB) default clock speed is 1440/1710/1183 which is boosted to 1440/1905/1183 and. In rtx 3070 (ddr6 8GB) default clock speed is 1500/1725/1750 and boosted to 1500/1905/1750. And rtx 3060ti. (Ddr6 8Gb) Default clock speed is 1500/1665/1750 and boosted to 1410/1860/1750 and 2080 ti (DDR 6 11GB) default clock speed is 1350/1545/1750 and boosted to 1350/1800/1850 and 1080ti (DDR 5x 11GB) default clock speed is 1481/1582/1376 boosted to1646/1784/1400 the boosting is in some models may be those models option not available In old used refurbished GPU.

I know that there is no point compare different chipset clock speeds and quite obviously 3080 3070 performs better than 2080ti or 1080ti but my point is that firstly in video rendering graphic designing which specs should be preferred 1080ti ddr5x or 2080ti DDR 6. Or 3080 DDR 6x ....Ram in 1080ti 2080ti 11gb or 3080 10gb or 3070 8 GB or 16506gb. Or. Base click speed in 1080ti 1481( 1646) 2080ti (1350) 3080(1440) 3070(1500) why in higher gen 3 GPUs the bas clock speed is less..and what effects In GPU if the base clock speed is more does that model increase the performance or not

As I k ow various factors all together makes the speed cuuda cores clock speed memory type bandwidth.

To end in a short note the basic thing is that if 1080ti base clock speeds boosts and even memory clock speed is increased in many models then can it give more performance than 2080 or 3070 or not.

And in respect of video editing rendering editing filters expoeting which aspect ie. More important is it Ram space Ram type speed.

At last I want to go for rtx 3080 as I think it's pcie4 card and is best from all and getting at good price but still need experts opinion in the concern..that can increased boost speed of lower version give a match to 3080 or not and any tool to check the GPU hours used and health from pc windows. 10 log reports

In advance thanks for your precious time advice help and opinions..

Doesn't matter about clock speeds between different graphics cards.

All 3080s outperform all 3070s and 2080 Tis by huge margins.

Out of the ones you listed, 3080 is best. 2080 Ti is second, 3070 is best imo because you get extra memory in 2080 Ti vs the 3070 and the performance is nearly the same.

I would advise you not to buy a gpu in India right now because the 3080 MSRP is 62k and you can't find one under like 85k. If you're willing to pay you can buy.

Clock speed can only be compared between 3080 v 3080, 3070 v 3070 etc.

You want the most power? Go for 3080. You want best value? 3060 Ti.

I don't trust the used market but that's upto you

Performance wise I've listed which is best up there in the order.

Whichever 3080 has the fastest clocks will be the fastest 3080. You can't do "1080 Ti clock rate vs 2080 Ti clock rate"

I would only recommend the 3060 Ti and 3080 new. Or the 1080 Ti used (not more than 20-25k)

I prefer Rog strix and Aorus over everything else. On the cheaper end, gigabyte Windforce and gaming oc etc over everything else.

Stop thinking about Cuda cores and tmu. Using those numbers just complicates things. They're different architectures you can't compare them. I don't know why RTX 30 series has lower base clocks. No clue at all. It still doesn't matter because it's a different architecture and you can't compare it with previous architecures

@Prad_Bitt bro thanks for your precious advice and opinions and your precious time.

@Prad_Bitt bro as you recommended rtx 3060ti good value and rtx 3080 . As rtx 3080 and rtx 3090 is launched in Sept or November 2020 and the new RTX 3080 have faced a price drop to. As per your words from 85k to 64k.

But in quikr olx india classifieds websites I founded old used rtx 3090 24GB and rtx 3080-10GB at Rs 15k to 30k used hardly for 2-4 months and left warranty with 2.5 years and RTX 2080ti 11GB at Rs 20k to 30k with 1 year warnaty and GTX 1080ti at price of 15k to 20k with no warranty and 3 years or more used and rtx 3060ti hardly founded at 38k to 55k and rtx 3070 at 20k to 25k

Firstly I have readed that gpu life span is 3-5 years depend on usage. Secondly I am am surprised of rtx 3080 ne price is from 85k to 105k and used one is sold for 20k to25k and same rtx 3090 price is 180k to 220 k and used one sold in Rs 20k to 25 k

So is there any stability problems with rtx 3080 or rtx 3090 or rtx 30 sereies as I have readed some articles link shared below in stability crashing issues with them.if but why are sellers selling at huge drop price.

In starting I got to find new GTX 1660 super and got a thought to get used rtx 1080ti at max but now seeing rtx 3090 or rtx 3080 within 20k-25k demand I am exited to get it but worried if it's not misused or damaged or problematic card or used in mining or high end usage. But as it has warranty and if it had problem then we can claim a new card except it's being damaged. Is there any way to check test lifespan health the GPU is it's not being used for mining or have problems.

Now the confusion Is that the deal I am getting in quikr is rtx 3080 rtx 3090 rtx 2080 ti gtx 1080ti is at 15k to 30k with bill invoice but rtx 3080 rtx 3090 have warranty and less used but rtx 30 series crashing it stability problems if solved in new drivers or updated whereas the rtx 1080ti or rtx 2080ti have been used for 3 years or 2years with no warrNtybir 1 months warranty left

Now which I should go for your advice and opinions plz

If you you see a used 3080 or 3090 at those prices, they're either broken or fake. They're not available at these prices (for other readers, 20-25k INR is $272 to $342 right now) period. Working, legitimate 3080s and 3090s aren't available anywhere in the world for less than twice this.

3080 at 20k is definitely a mining card lol. Or something sketchy like that. Don't buy that. I'm not sure if the warranty will cover RMA for wear and tear. Plus it's second hand, most companies don't support second hand warranty. Stability problems will be solved eventually if not immediately. I don't see many people complaining about it. I'd stay away from used GPUs in India. Can't trust anyone. Warranty doesn't carry over. I personally don't know any way to check gpu health. Either way cards are overpriced now, by the time prices become stable they'll hopefully have solved the stability issues. I wouldn't buy used unless it's from a known person. That's just my personal opinion, I can't risk that money.

It's a really bad time to buy a GPU. Prices are all over the place. Very very rarely can you get one at a decent rate. 2060 can be found at 27k at many places rn.

Also, during the launch, at least for the first day, I noticed prices were normal (3080,3070,3060 Ti) everything I saw at launch day was normal pricing +4-5k at most. So maybe you'll have a chance at the RTX 3060 when it releases Feb end. You'll have to move fast though.

Yeah and regular new 3080s aren't available for less than like $1200 - 1400here.

Afaik, Evga is the only vendor that will warranty a 2nd owner card for the remainder of period, and thats only if the original purchaser filled out the registration.

All others are original purchase only. You might get a store warranty if you buy a used gpu from a certified reseller. Usually lasts 1 year.

You'd actually have to read the terms of the warranty to verify for each brand.

In each card is a reference model. That's the base speed as determined by nvidia for clocks. All of the brands have models with the exact same speeds, their cheapest models. Those models also have the lowest form of cooling. The more expensive models are overclocked at the factory, so have slightly higher clock speeds and almost always better cooling. The differences between the cheapest model and most expensive generally only gets @ 5-10fps difference in the same game.

For example: If a 3060ti reference gets 100fps, the 3060ti OC gets 110fps. The 3070 reference gets 120fps, the 3070 OC gets 130fps, the 3080 reference gets 150fps and the 3080 OC gets 160fps. Regardless of what each chipsets clock speeds are.

With as new as the 3000 series is, used cards are Very, Very rare, it's not like many will be upgrading to a newer model, there aren't any yet. The only used cards will the the 3070 if ppl decided they wanted a 3080 instead for 4k graphics. So consider Any used 3000 series card as Highly suspect and questionable. Most often, the cards are not used, but new and bought by a scalper and have the price raised. The scalpers also tend to use the bar code for rebate purposes, requiring registering the card, which voids the warranty for a 2nd owner.

Because of extremely limited supply and extremely overboard demand, the 3080 is selling Brand New in stores for @ $1600. Well beyond any MSRP.
