How do you define "durable" ??? Used by the military? Able to work in dirty or moist conditions?
My idea of durable would be something like a Toshiba toughbook. But I doubt that is what you are thinking....

I have an MSI laptop i bought 10 years ago that i used for IT, its still kicking around at home. Spent many of years being thrown around in the server room, in and out of my northface backpack, and many TSA checks at the air port. The past 2 years I've been using a Asus ROG zephyrus G15.

The Automation guys at work use Dell Latitudes, let me tell you....they did not buy them and they are not kind to them :ROFLMAO:

For office use, never had a Dell die on me.

Did have a Lenovo die on me once. T410 if I recall. I got a replacement that day, it died about ten minutes after it was dropped off, but that one was the exact same age. Third one lasted until the next hardware refresh.

Basically, as long as you avoid the cheapest models from most brands, and you treat them properly, they should last at least 5 years without needing any work.

Hinges tend to get worn out in office settings.

Panasonic Toughbook CF-31 is the best for durability if you need to control drones in Ukraine and plan to add a bullet-proof laptop case to it.

And you can get the Thinkpad T series up to T480 and T580 for performance, Linux support, longevity, upgradeability, hot swappable battery, still useful 15 years later, etc.

I'm hoping to upgrade one of my own, and asked about it on this post, here:

For real, though, if you keep an eye on eBay, you can get really well specified Thinkpad T series laptops for much less than retail if you're willing to lose a few auctions and make a few rejected offers before you get the best deal, e.g. one that comes with 32GB of memory for less than half of your budget.

NERDS!

durable as in it will work properly for 4-5 years in office setting
My dirt cheap Acer Aspire 3 A315, bought in 2019 has to be replaced now because components is starting to die, seemingly even when the laptop is being handled with utter most care. That is fault (getting worse over time) in power supply that make the laptop unable to turn off properly, and the touch pad just died 3 weeks ago, also seemingly just of old age.

Realistic expected lifetime for this laptop I'd say no more than 3 years.
