Which is the best CPU for gaming

I can afford anything up to $400 USD for a CPU which is the best.

I would recommend buying a i5-4690K and any Z97 motherboard.

i7-4790K and i7-5820K are the best performing chips under $400 right now. At sock clocks, the 4790K is the better gaming CPU, once overclocked, they are about the same but the 5820K will have more idle resources for additional tasks.
