which is the best

You can also SLI the 970 in future. But i would only recommend SLI, when there is no other way around it. If there are stronger single cards, go for these. Don't go SLI below the 970 it's not really worth it.

And no, SLI does not have many issues. I kind of never have any SLI issues, no idea why everyone keeps saying that. Some games just don't support it and that's it. But these games normally don't require that much power anyway.

That's simply wrong. Ever took a look at the VRAM usage of current games at max settings 1080p? Most of them don't even need 2gb.

Well these are recent games in the article. What is recent then? 😀
I'm running anything at max settings @1440p with just 3gb VRAM so i don't really get the whole moreeeee VRAM thing going on at the moment. I mean yea, my system would probably a bit more happy with more VRAM but i still keep solid 60fps no matter what settings.

This is not a fact, but judging by recent games performance and optimisation, requirements really went up, but graphics quality didn't. Not sure what's going on, if it's some deal for NVIDIA's new 16GB cards, but really, each year graphics requirements go up quite a bit. I find it strange though you're not experiencing stuttering if you max games today. Obviously not Fallout 4, but Battlefront, Assassins Creed, etc. I'm sure that RAM requirements will go up as well, probably double the 8 GB to 16 GB, but why is that required when games don't look any better? Strange to me.

Yea i noticed the RAM requirements this year. Had to go up from 8gb to 16gb. And i was surprised with Battlefront too. Looks damn good and runs at 60fps straight with max settings. Finally a good optimized game being released. But anyway back to topic. 😀

You're better off getting a single 970, even if you would SLI the 960 in the future.
The 970 will last you alot longer at 1080p and you can still SLI it like next year, when it's probably cheaper than a 960 now.
