I'm about to upgrade from an i5 2400 but I'm still going back and forth between which i5 I want... What would you guys do?

3570k for $219 and this mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128544

or....

4670k for $239 and this mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128592

Also if I was to go with the 4670k, is the extra $20 worth it?

I do plan on overclocking, I am currently running a GTX 780 and I am bottlenecking like a mothertrucker LOL. If you guys have any other recommendations on anything let me know here!

the 1150 motherboard will let you drop in the haswell refresh when it comes out the 1155 mb is a dead slot. the 1150 cpu is a little faster then the older one but does not overclock as well. the newer 1150 mb has more 6g sata ports built in and more usb 3.0 ports.

At that point it comes down to overclocking.

The 3570k would do a better job if you want to overclock on stock cooler right away, while the 4670k is about 5-10 % better if not overclock. Although the 4670k is less easy to overclock and overheats more if you do.

Don't worry about bottleneck with either, they will do the job well.

MSi PH67A-C43(B3)

I should probably re-phrase and say that my CPU is bottlenecking instead, like trying to play BF3 or Crysis3. My friend and I both have GTX 780s and he has an i7 2700k. So what we'll do is play a game at the same time side-by-side, same OC settings or just default, same graphical settings and I'll drop about 20-40 frames depending on games.

Also when I play CPU demanding games my cores are always at 98-100%.

I have heard that the 4670k is worse at overclocking. Not sure how true it is though. And if so, would it make a noticable difference in gaming compared to a 3570k? I also have a Cooler Master Hyper 212 CPU cooler.

I'm losing a good 20-40 frames in CPU demanding games. My CPU is constantly running at 98-100% depending on the game.

3570k is not much slower than a 4670k, 5-8%, but also will overclock higher so either chip would suit your needs. You could try the 3570k in your current board and see what you get. If it doesn't work, an Asrock Z77 extreme4 is a nice board. Maybe that board locks non k version chips. The manual clearly shows it can be adjusted and I would take a guess they had a 2500k in the board when they did the screen shot based on the settings being displayed and the adjust cpu ratio being able to be chosen. Did you try disabling the genie and see if it did anything?

I have yet to try disabling it.
But something did happen, if I enable "Adjust CPU ratio in OS" my CPU automatically adjust to 3400.00 MHz. But it is disabled (originally) the CPU frequency goes back down to 3100.00 MHz. And when I enabled the CPU ration to 3400.00 MHz my PC still ready 3100.00 MHz after I boot it.

So if I am understanding this right, if I have a any LGA 1155 chipset for example like a 2500k, 2700k, 3570k, this board is supposedly OCable?

Or am I way off LOL.
