Which is the easiest Air CPU cooler to install, that still provides good performance?

Title says it all. I've been using a hyper 212 evo for years. With the new 8600K, I was thinking it's time to get a new one, but I always hated how hard it was to install the 212. Are there any good performing coolers that are easier to install?

Ok, so I did go ahead and order the Noctua cooler. I haaate, the color of the fan though. I wonder, does anyone know if there is any performance difference if I put the fan on the back, facing the case fan, pulling air through the heatsink rather than putting it on the ram side to push the air through it?

Hmm, doesn't seem to be as much help here as there used to be a couple of years ago. I supposed I can experiment with the which side to install the fan and see for myself then.

Hi,

Usually people put fan at ram side and heat sink at other-side so that hot air can exit case via rear back exhaust.I think you should refer to some youtube videos.I hope noctua wont disappoint you.
Thank you,

Yeah, I'm aware of that. My questions is would it change the performance any if I mount the fan on the other side, away from the ram, pulling air through in the same direction as if I mounted it on the ram side, pushing through. The air travel path will be the same, and still exiting out the rear of the case. Just like in a push-pull setup, just without the push, only the pull.

Hi,

Without push, there will be no incoming stream of air in that direction.I think you should put it in recommended way.Yes it will change the performance by some degrees,expect change of 5-10 degrees(depending on no of case fans you have)..Although I cant say it for sure.I am trying to apply little bit physics.I may be wrong.

Logic is : Incoming air -> push
Outgoing air -> pull

Thank you,
Ishaan

I've got plenty of incoming air, (3) 140mm top intake, (2) 140mm front intake, (1) 120mm bottom intake. I will do some experimenting and see if I get safe levels with the fan hidden in pull format. Thanks for your replies.

Update for those that care: I ended up putting in a corsair H100i RGB Pro, as Amazon was 4 days late delivering my Noctua that I ordered, and I was tired of waiting, so went down to the local Best Buy and picked up my first ever liquid cooler. Glad I did, it was easy to install, and so far, is working great. Looks great too.
