Hello,

I want to buy a 1080 TI since my 1080 fried in February, after a 6 month warranty, perfectly timed as always...

So I have researched already a lot regarding which one has the highest base clock and boost.
I saw a guy claiming his Inna3D iChill 1080 Ti X3 Ultra has a 1900 boost clock stock. I just can't believe it because they're all at 1600.

Some have 3 fans compared to the 2 big fans on the original cards, since they don't give temperature tests, which is preferable ?
Regarding the colors of the panel I prefer a full black, my computer is an open case so it matters to me.
Finally, something important, are there any cards that are known to be prone to have coil whine ?

I am looking for several choices with a focus on these aspects:

  • Highest base / boost clock
Black front panel of the card for display
    Low rate of whine coil

I don't know if it is the right time to buy a gpu, do you know if recent gpu have a price decrease around Christmas ?

Thank you

I like my EVGA 1080 ti Hybrid, stays under 40C during gaming and just by increasing the power limit (EVGA PrecisionX) the card will auto boost (Nvidia 3.0 boost) up to 1967mhz.
I would not worry as much about factory overclocks as much because you will be able OC the card yourself past the factory OC. All the factory OC does is give you a somewhat (binned) chip.

If you want to get high clockspeeds you really need 2 things. One is a well made chip. A silicon lottery winner. Selecting a higher OC card or top end card will help with that. The other thing you need is good cooling. If you remove the thermal barrier, you can push your card farther.

So I would get a hybrid card. I have 2 1080ti's in sli and both of them are in hybrid coolers from EVGA and my temps never go over 50C under max load.

If you are looking for the best card and money is not a problem, I would go with this one:

The 1900 clock speed this guy is talking about it the boost. A card with a base clock of 1600 may boost to 2000mhz.
