hey, i recently bought a sapphire r7 265, and i'm totally stuck with choosing the right cable Q__Q.
I'm very afraid of frying my graphics card because recently i broke my last card while trying to clean it with my vacuum cleaner ..



so.. cables i own:


from graphics card:

6 pin into 4 pin molex (so no direct way to socket into PSU)


cables i own:

6 pin to 6 pin pci express cable (black color)
8 pin to 6 pin pci express cable (red color)
8 pin to 6 pin + 2 pin pci express cable (red color)
long 6 pin cable with like 3 sockets thingy's for 4 pin molex thingy's


EPS12v (permanent attached to PSU)
ATX12v (permanent attached to PSU)


backside of my PSU is weird, it only has 8 pin pci express slots (x2) which are red colored. and a few black colored slots. So which cable on which slot?

This is the cable expressly for graphics card use.

8 pin to 6 pin + 2 pin pci express cable (red color)

why not the 8 pin into 6 ? since those 2 pins won't get used? and the sapphire website says: 1X75 Watt 6-pin PCI Express power connector is required, isn't 8 pin 150w?

It's 75W without those 2 pins, just like a normal 6-pin connector.

You can use either of the red color cables, both will work equally well.

Any six pin will work. The "8 pin to 6 pin + 2 pin pci express cable (red color) " fits the graphics cards with either 6 or 8 pin power requirement.
