Which is worth, i5 6500 with gtx 1060 or gtx 1080?

So im looking for gpu for my i5-6500 that more worth for future.
Well 1080 is worth for future, but is it overkill because im using 1080p? or is it ok?

I'm using a 1080 ROG strix OC 11gdps card and I love it at 1080p. A video card can never be overkill haha!

the 108o will allow you to enter the realm of 4k as higher res monitors come down in price.
I have an old quote I tell people on here that an old friend told me once... it goes something like:

Meaning, spend the big bucks, get the awesome thing you wanted, and cry about the money loss JUST ONCE! Instead of wanting that 1080 later down the road... GO FOR IT
