Hello,

Can someone help me with my issue. I have a Van that I use for traveling/holidays. Because on traveling I do a lot of photos I like to edit them in my Van. In Van I do not have any inverter, so I would like to charge my laptop using 12V cigarette lighter socket. Is this possible? Please note, I do not have laptop yet but I will buy one. Which one it depends, on which one I will be able to charge in Van on 12V (if any). If I buy USB adapter (like this one) and plug in USB-C to power laptop, would this be OK? Or is better solution to buy car charger like this one (does this one works only with HP laptops)?

And another think I am afraid. Would any method like this one (to not use original laptop charger) in any way harm my laptop/battery? Please note I am not in favor buying non original (Chinese) chargers.

USB-C charging is great.

What country are you in and what's your budget?

How would you rate your level of photo editing? (hobbyist, semi-pro, professional photographer)

I am in Europe (Slovenia), my budget for laptop is up to 1.500 EUR - if there qould be some really great deal. I will not buy Apple product becase at home I have all Win computers. But I am looking around 1.000 EUR. My level of photo editing is hobbyist. But I am semi-pro in video editing, but I will not be doing this while traveling/on vacation.

Hi there,

There are actually different ways you could charge a laptop in a car/van, and my suggestion would be use a laptop car charger, because I have been using one for years now. I am a freelancer and I constantly travel; therefore, the laptop car charger has been a huge blessing for me. You could easily find one online for most laptop models, and this is an affordable option as well.
Though I've heard from my friends that USB-C charging works as well, I have not tried it myself, so I cannot vouch for that option.

Hope this helps! Cheers!
