Hey people!
Gaming is optional, the goal is to go as cheap as we could.
Virtual tabletop roleplaying is necessary (namely foundry, https://foundryvtt.com/article/requirements/)
At least some integrated GPU.
At least 8 GB RAM.
1. What is your budget?
max 500 USD
2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
Fairly important: The bigger the keyboard physically, the better.
We won't be able to just plug in a keyboard.
Small and cramped keyboard is a problem.
3. What screen resolution do you want?
No smaller than 1366x768.
1080p would be nice.
4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
Portable.
5. How much battery life do you need?
Not a priority.
6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
Not a priority (other than foundry), but:
Nancy Drew games, Inscription, Black Book, Gods Will Be Watching things similar to these, on low.
If somehow more demanding things like Baldur's gate 3 or Disco Elysium or Divinity: Original Sin 1&2 could be ran on the lowest, it would be great, but not a necessity at all.
(Although I doubt it would be possible)
7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
Virtual tabletop rpgs, reading, emails, reddit, wikis, video calls, youtube, excel and word, pdfs.
No photoshop, no modeling, no video editing, no protein folding.
8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
At least 256 GB, but strictly SSD.
512 GB would be nice.
9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.
None.
10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?
Since it would mainly be for videos on youtube and writing .doc-s and reading and virtual ttrpgs, I'd assume for a long time.
Years (?) .
11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
None.
Some way to connect to a TV, like a HDMI would be nice, but not necessary.
12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
No preference.
13. What country do you live in?
Colorado, Colorado Springs, USA
14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.
We own a gaming PC and a PS, this would only be for accessing the internet, emails and reading when we'd have no access to a PC.
I can’t think of anything else, please ask questions.
Thanks in advance!
