I want to get a laptop that is good for video rendering and maybe light gaming, watching movies etc.
I was looking at these 2 laptops

Can you tell me which one will offer me the best performance for the value?
Also if you know a laptop less than £500 that is better i would appreciate it.
(FYI i found a website to get the HP laptop for £480)

Depends on what is more important to you.

Both should perform very similarly in most usage, the Radeon M260 is very similar to the 8750M.

The Intel CPU will however be a bit quicker and use less power than the AMD A10 in the HP. However, the HP has a smaller battery, so this advantage might not mean much.

Other than that, the HP has a much higher resolution display. Keep that in mind, as you will probably have to use lower settings for gaming, or play at a non-native resolution.

Can't really make any useful recommendation, as the prices are quite a bit different on the other side of the ocean.

I'm probably going to be using it more for web browsing and video rendering rather than gaming. I will also be using it in college so battery life will be important for me.

For video rendering, the i5 should have a slight advantage. However, neither of those two is ideal for this kind of task. If you can forego gaming, you might be able to find one with a quad core i7 (CPU part # with a "Q" at the end) at around that price, which would be MUCH faster than those two (as in those two together =D).

As for battery life, it's hard to say, as battery capacities are different. Those two should be close, if I had to guess I'd say the Toshiba would have a slight advantage.

Between those 2, I'd pick the Toshiba, unless the screen resolution is very important for you.

Would an i5 with a nvidia 820m or 840m be more worthwhile?
