My current laptop has an intel i3-370M @2.4ghz and was fine for how i used it, but now its time for a new laptop and can't decide between these two.

it between a ASUS X550CC-XO016H and a HP Pavilion 15-p204na.

The Asus is Intel Core i5-3337U Dual Core (1.8GHz, 3MB Cache, Intel Turbo Boost up to 2.7GHz), 6GB RAM, 750GB HDD, 5400rpm, Nvidia GeForce GT720M

And the Hp is Inte i3-5010U with Intel HD Graphics 5500 (2.1 GHz, 3 MB cache, 2 cores)

Im leaning towards the Asus because of the graphics cards, also i dont plan on gaming at all, just using it for everyday browsing, torrenting, word etc, and might use photoshop on rare occasion

Would 1.8ghz be good enough, and also its intel U processor, as long as it would be better than my current one id be happy, so would a i5 U @ 1.8ghz be better than a i3 M @ 2.4ghz

The processors you listed are about 50% faster than your current laptop's processor. The difference between them is slight, but the i5 is faster.

For graphics, the 720m is not really that much stronger than the on die GPUs for either intel processor. I consider any Nvidia GPU below X40 to be worthless, might as well stick with the integrated. (Note it is around twice the power of the integrated chips abilities, but... it's still really weak)

So basically the Asus graphics wont be that much better than the HP? so id be better of not spending an extra £200?

Unless you will be attempting to play video games or use photoshop at extremely high resolutions with many layers... no, there will be negligible difference. Despite it being twice as powerful, the low level tasks usually encountered such as youtube and microsoft office don't need even that much power.
