Right now I'm thinking of getting the Asus Maximus VIII Hero Motherboard, but I don't know if that's the best choice. I don't really want to spend over £200 on one. As for the CPU I want an i7 6700k but that's probably just for the sake of having an i7, so I might end up getting an i5-6500 because I probably won't overclock and it's over £200 cheaper, assuming it's not just cheap because it's rubbish. I'll mainly be using the computer for gaming and video editing.
Current setup just in case it matters.

Personally, I would go with the i7 - 4790K rather then the 6700k. It is about 100 dollars cheaper and stands up pretty well against the 6700k.

For the motherboard, I would also suggest the MSI G45 - Gaming. It has plenty of room for upgrade and has mainly cool softwares to optimize your gaming needs.

This core should also be able to handle all of your video editing needs with the 8 threads.
If budget is a concern then the ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING would be a good option for a quality 1151 socket mobo, which is quite a bit cheaper than the Hero (not sure about specific prices in GB sorry). The i5 6500 will be a great cpu for gaming, but I believe the hyperthreading on the i7 may make it worthwhile for you to consider the extra expense, as it will perform better for video editing.
