Which liquid cooling pump to get?

Hello. We're going to built a custom chassis with custom liquid cooling heads and rad, but we need a powerful pump to drive a 1/2" tubing system that cools the cpu, chipset, memory, gpu.

if it ain't too much to ask, please a link to somewhere in europe where it can be bought.

I also read over all of the user reviews of this product @ that link on New Egg. One interesting one to point out is the guy that discusses aquatic gear, and his findings about the tubing and other elements in some Computer Water cooling systems coming from the Pet/Aquatic cooling systems. So, Industrial Quality pumps/items for large aquariams is another avenue to investigate. Perhaps cheaper. but definately would open up more options.

Depending on the restriction in your loop this one will work fine with most loops but lags for high performance blocks and multiple gpus.

The mcp355 is a better pump than the mcp655 but you have to change the top for ½ inch barbs.

Can I ask why? As the MCP655 has quit 3 times the drainage of the MCP 355 (around 1200LPH for 655 vs 450 LPH for the 355)

the higher the head pressure the better the flow rate and that is why the MCP355 is favored .
the MCP655 is great with low restrictive components

Thanks for the replies.

It's kinda hard to tell what the system'll look like, since all but the pump will be homemade.
We'll be using a radiator from a car's heating system and some 1/2" tubing. The cooling blocks will be made of raw cobber and it'll be cooling memory, northbridge, cpu and gpu.

hardrives will be in a seperate enclosure so they won't need water cooling

Edit: we may be using 2 rads or a rad and a reservoir (sprinkler container or something)

Also one thing to add, the RD-30 is going to require a seperate power supply if you decide to go that route. But wow, 33 ft. of head 😀 that makes me smile. The MCP655 dumps more heat into your loop than a modified MCP355 will. I would go with either an Alphacool top or Petras top (thats what i have).

Maybe physics aren't my preferred theme...

Would you be kind and explain me how this thing goes? I searched google to compare these pumps, nothing. The MCP-655 is pricer and claimed to be far better than the MCP-355 pump by Swiftech

Visualize each pump out on your lawn side by side with only the inlet connected
Turn each pump on and water will shoot straight up in a vertical column.
The mcp655 will shoot 11 feet in the air at zero psi where the column from the mcp355 will be 20 feet at zero psi.
Although psi and gallons per minute are is part of the equation the efficiency of a pump is actually measured in flow rate or head of pressure.
The difference between the two pumps will not be noted until the loop reaches its highest point of restriction.
With multiple high end water blocks and large radiators the mcp355 with the modded top would be the better choice.
Even with this information the mcp655 is no slouch and a very good pump except it seems to dump heat into the loop on its highest setting (adjustable models)
The only thing I would question is at what rating will the mcp355 be with the larger barbs?
May be when I get a lawn I’ll try this
