Im looking for a 240 or 250GB M.2 SSD to add into my computer. I want to know which M.2 drives have the best reliability and that have the most capable theoretical writes on each sector. Ive heard people talk about how some of the less desirable drives can die faster due to technology differences.

I noticed Kingston has a 240GB SSD for only $99. Which M.2 drives would offer the best price to reliability ratio?

I would like to buy a drive that will last me the next 5 years with lots of reads and writes, and reasonably fast (hence m.2). Speed isnt super important. The most important is having something rock solid. Which drives should I be looking at?

Also, when would be the best time to buy it? Would it be wise to wait for black friday/christmas, early next year, etc? Or should I just buy now? How much will prices fall?

Solution
For fantastic reliability and performance the Samsung 950 PRO is hard to beat. It is, however, on the pricer side of the spectrum:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Storage: Samsung 950 PRO 256GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($184.99 @ B&H)
Total: $184.99
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

It has a 5 Year or 200TBW warranty, which is quite good and fits perfectly into what you are looking for.

As far as prices... M.2 drives are still fairly cutting edge in the consumer market, so even on events like Black Friday you aren't going to be seeing much of a price drop.

Samsung are pretty much the king of SSD/M2's and people say to avoid the low end Intel drives BUT Intel are the leaders with server-grade enterprise PCIe M2's and reliability is a must for those. Each model will tell you the average lifespan of a disk in the spec. Find a few in your price range and compare them.

Am curious about the SSD sale myself come Black Friday. SSD/M2 prices are all over the place at the moment.

The 850 Evo is still an extremely well performing SSD and more than fast enough for the average consumer.
I can't think of anyone apart from people who work with video who would need a faster drive.
Here's the link to it, i'll also put in a faster option if you have a burning hole in your pocket.

Faster drive (RD 400, actually outperforms the 950 Pro): http://pcpartpicker.com/product/VrDzK8/ocz-internal-hard-drive-rvd400m22280256g
