So yeah I have a Samsung 970 evo plus 2TB SSD

And I also have the Asus ROG strix X570-f motherboard

And I was wondering which of the 2 M.2 slots would be best to put it in

As far as I can see reading manual the 2 ports are identical, does it matter which port it is put in? Wisdom would suggest prioritizing the ports in numerical order but then alternate wisdom would point out that the first port is directly above the graphics card and thus would probably run warmer making the 2nd slot a better choice.

Wondering if anyone had any input on this?

You are overthinking it, both slots would be fine.

Yes it does matter but it doesn’t either. Not trying to be flip.

The slot closest to the cpu uses the PCIe 4.0 lane while the lower slot goes through the chipset.

So, with that said if you look at demos on Youtube of loading times the difference is minimal between a good SATA SSD and the NVME SSD.

I have and Asus TUF x570 with a Sabrent 4.0 and a 3.0 NVME. The Sabrent while very fast it’s speed is not fully realized. Everything loads extremely fast regardless of which drive.
