Hi

I have purchased the Gigabyte B150M-D3H motherboard and am about to purchase an M.2 SSD to go with it. The motherboard description says it supports "PCIe Gen3 x4 M.2 Connector with up to 32Gb/s Data Transfer (PCIe & SATA SSD support)".

Based on this description, I had shortlisted the Samsung EVO 850 M.2 SSD 256GB. However I just noticed that the socket on the motherboard is probably for M type M.2 connector whereas the M.2 SSD shortlisted by me appears to have a B-M connector type.

I realise that the Samsung 950 M.2 pro might fit the bill but its twice as expensive for the 256GB option. So ideally I'd like to go for the 850 series. My question is will it be possible to use the 850 model on this motherboard, given the difference in connector types ?

Thanks

Thanks. Thats correct. But if possible, I'd like to go for the 850 (or its 950 equivalent with suitable connector type) owing to the huge price differential.

As the https://rog.asus.com/13552014/maximus-motherboards/buying-an-m-2-ssd-how-to-tell-which-is-which/ webpage explains it, "M.2 SSDs with B+M keying maximize compatibility in both slots". So that way the 850 should also be compatible, isnt it ?
