which method to apply for thermal paste?

i have i5 2400 and i want to repaste cpu please tell me method and which is the best thermal paste?
My opinion:arctic silver 5.
one more thing is that i had clean it with piece of paper very well so it must to clean with solution or i simply reapply thermal paste.?

Can either do the pee dot and let the pressure alone squeeze it out to all 4 corners/most critical areas or use in my preference glad rap. Smooth finger finish spreading out the paste paper thin all over the cpu.
