which Microsoft office is compatible with windows 8?

Solution

DOCX and DOCM can still be read by Office 2003, but any customised XML markup will be lost. (Provided Compatibility Pack and Service packs are applied)

I'm guessing most all of them(post 2003) should be. I've used MS Office 2007 on windows 8. However to be safe go with 2013.

All post 2003, but you may have to use Compatibility Mode for the older versions. Rt click the Setup.exe file and choose 'Troubleshoot Compatibility' Also if it's 2003 d'load File Format Converter from M'soft to work with later versions of Word...

I agree, however, do choose atleast MS Office 2007 as quite a number of files today use the docx format which was started post 2007.
