Which monitor should I get for PC gaming?

Solution

Ok, I know what makes a monitor a good gaming monitor, but that is not my focus. I care more about text clarity, low eyestrain, and that sort of thing. I am a gamer, but I find it is more fun to game on a monitor good at other things than to try to other things on a monitor primarily good at gaming. For example, the best monitor you linked to has a TN screen which I hate. Also I believe those all use PWM (strobing ), which I also can't stand. I won't buy a monitor for any price that uses PWM. I will only...

I will only buy DC dimming even if it costs much much more (and it costs a little more).

I don't know a monitor on your budget which would fit my criteria (and I know my criteria is not yours. The closest I know of is this one:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0154E4HHS/ It is currently £219.59. It is quantum dot (superior colors, superior color space (wider gamut), very bright, uses DC dimming, but it is only 1080p and only 60hz. I've bought one for my son, buying another for his brother. I've bought 10+ for work as well.

When back in stock, this one might be a good option:

It is listed at the top end of your budget.

I think im going to get this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-VE248HR-24-Inch-LED-Monitor/dp/B014RKR8K8

Will this be suitable enough for PC gaming?

It is. However it has every feature which is known to cause eyestrain, so no marathon sessions or you'll end up in glasses like I did.
