Which monitor should I get?

Either an ultrawide 29 inch freesync monitor at 75hz for 500 cad, or a 24 inch 144hz freesync 16:9 monitor for 450 cad?

what kind of games do you play?
for that price I would go for a 29" monitor, doesn't feel right paying 450 CAD for a 24" screen.

GTA 5 is pretty much the main game I play, but also call of duty, battlefield, portal, etc. The price for a normal 144hz monitor is around 250 cad, but I guess for the freesync support, it's more expensive.

for the games you play I would go for the ultraWide, seems like you already considered it and have the budget for it.

Are there a lot of issues with ultrawide though? Also it's probably worth mentioning that I do video editing as well.

it is a no brainer then, the real state of that screen would help out a lot while editing.
watching 16:9 video content on that screen would be the only drawback as far as I know. you would have 2 black stripes vertically on the sides
