Which monitor should I get?

I am going to be replacing my monitor as its quite old (1080p Ips panel 59hz) and I was wondering which one I should get should I get 1440p 144hz monitor or 240hz 1080p monitor I like to play competitive in gaming but I also enjoy a good quality image as im just after building a new PC for 2k it wont struggle to preform with either. Whats your guys opinion and what models of a monitor would you recommend. Im not looking to go crazy on a monitor anying lower than 800 euro would be a good budget or a small bit over would also be ok.
