Which monitor should i get

I have 16gb ram 2400 i7 7700 gtx 1060 gigabyte windforce oc and i have a 1080p 1ms monitor

The games that i will play are mostly cs go and fornite i can lower settings no problem.

1080p 144Hz. 1440p would demand more from the GPU and you're going to need more than a GTX1060 6GB.

If i do end up getting a 1440p for not intending to upgrad anytime in the future (monitor wise) is it a bad idea to run a 1440p at 1080p,also will i have screen tearing as the monitors don't offer Gsync.

If you intend to stay with the GTX1060 for a while, I suggest you go for a fast 1080 display because while CS;GO isn't very demanding, Fortnite is, if your system can't keep significantly over 60FPS at all times you'll be wasting your money with a 1440 display unless you intend to dramatically up the GPU in the fairly near future.

Running a 1440 monitor at 1080 rez will reduce graphic quality, or to be more accurate, image sharpness, try running a game or two at below 1080 rez on the current display to see the effect.

To test game performance at 1440 rez using your current display, activate the DSR feature in the Nvidia drivers, it's in the Manage 3D settings box, just tick ( check for the USA ) all the little factors boxes then ' Apply ' to activate. When you run your games new resolutions should show up, just apply as normal.

For a 24" display 1080 is pretty much the ideal resolution for 1440 I'd go for a 27" monitor, much smaller and you'll find a lot of text too small to read.

Best way to use a Freesync display with an Nvidia card is to set the refresh rate to 'highest available' and vertical sync to 'Adaptive' in the manage 3D settings box of the drivers. It's not perfect because it'll activate normal Vsync once the framerate drops below 60FPS but as long as you tune the game settings to stay above that threshold you'll be hard pressed to see the difference between a Freesync and Gsync display.
