Hi All!
I have a choice between these two monitors. Both are the same price.
Monitor Option 1: MSI MAG 27CQ6F 27" 1440p QHD 180Hz Curved
Monitor Option 2: MSI MAG 275QF 27" 1440p QHD 180Hz Rapid IPS
I also have access to this monitor at the same price - Option 3 - MSI G274QPF E2
From what I can gather the only differences between them is one is curved and one isn't, and one is VA (Curved) and one is IPS (Flat)
The main use for the monitor is gaming and photo editing. I would say 75% gaming and 25% photo editing/other tasks.
I have heard that the IPS monitors are better for photo editing due to the colour shifting with the VA monitors and I have heard that the VA monitors sometimes have ghosting and black smearing during gaming. However, the VA monitor above seems to have pretty good reviews in those things (from the limited reviews available) and appears to be great for gaming due to the superior contrast and the curved screen. So does this make it better than the IPS monitor?
From what I have read the IPS monitors are generally better for photo editing and are still more than adequate for gaming despite the inferior contrast and sometimes backlight bleeding.
I am still a bit of a novice when it comes to monitors so would really love some advice on what you would do in my situation based on your superior knowledge.
In terms of gaming I almost always play single player RPG's. For photo editing, I do small jobs here and there for clients. The main reason for my monitor upgrade is the gaming if I am being honest but ideally a monitor that did both tasks well would be what I am looking for.
Currently I have an old 24" Samsung 1080p monitor so either one will be a big upgrade from that.
My current setup is below:
AMD5
Ryzen 7 9900x
RX 9060 XT 16GB
32GB DDR5 Ram
MSI X870p Motherboard
850W Cooler Master Gold
Thank you for your help.
Edit: Forgot to mention that this monitor will be mounted and be my primary monitor. The 1080p monitor will become my second monitor - also mounted.
