starting a new build and found 2 boards im learning towards

Had bad luck with asus my 1366 p6t died on me twice and had to RMA 2 other asus boards. so i thought i would go with

another brand even though ASUS owns ASRock.


i wont be doing sli/crossfire

leaning towards ASROCK board atm.... seems like all the 1155 socket boards have bad reviews

not looking to spend over $160 us on a board

I have an ASUS z68 board and have had no issues in the 6 weeks or so I have had it. Most other z68 models seem to be fine as well. I mainly got it because i ran into an awesome sale. My board is normally ~$125 and I got it brand new in the box for $79.99.

I have never had any issues with Gigabyte since they first opened their doors. Only brand I can say that about.

Would never buy an Asrock due to the lower quality components and build quality( I used to work in electronics manufacturing). Plus forums are littered with Asrock complaints, although it appears if you get a good one, you get a good one. Same seems to hold true with MSI.

As for which model to get, just get the one that has the features you want. When it comes to ASUS or Gigabyte, feature set is the only difference where price is concerned. Quality is equal from low to high price.

Definitely the Gigabyte. It's not even a fair comparison since the Gigabyte has LucidLogix Virtu so you can use Quick Synch while still use a dedicated Graphics card. The Gigabyte also supports SLI and Crossfire which you won't get on that Fatality. If you're going to compare an ARock board though, the Z68 Extreme 3 is a much more fair comparison.
