As the title suggests, I've been meaning to buy a Ruzen 5 2600X but I just can't get my head around what motherboard to buy, should I buy a low priced B450 or expensive af X series? I just want to game at a decent fps and have a GT 1030 as GPU. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance

P.S. I've been thinking of buying Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro AM4

X470 chipset offers more PCIe lanes and allows for SLI'g of Nvidia GPU's and while that's the only clear advantage they offer the motherboards with the most capable VRM's are really only found with X470 chipsets. But that only matters if your goal is extreme overclocking as the better B450 motherboards are still very capable for 24/7 overclocking of a 6 core 2600 processor...

Your limiter for gaming performance will be the 1030 GPU at any rate.

I personally wouldn't get the Gigabyte board. An MSI B450 Tomahawk or Asrock B450 Pro4 is much preferable and for a lot of features, such as WiFi, MSI B450 Pro Carbon AC.

It should work perfectly. Just be aware of two things: first, it does not allow overclocking of the CPU, but that is of less importance for a second gen 'X' chip.

Second: be certain it has a BIOS update to support Ryzen 2000 CPU's. If it hasn't, you'll not be able to boot to BIOS even to do the update.
