Buy a USB mouse as eventually PS/2 slots won't appear on all PC, they the old type mostly replaced by USB now. There are some PC now without a PS/2 slot so its only a matter of time before they gone.

Because there are still old computers that use them. And it takes time for hardware to die off. You can buy network cards now that don't have win 10 drivers yet, which to me is a crime as unsuspecting people go and buy them just to find they don't work on their computers.
Sometimes a PS/2 mouse/kb is handy as in some cases windows loses all its USB drivers and you need to use it to boot up, but that is pretty rare.
