Which OCZ? Or Corsair for that matter

I'm thinking now to choose the correct RAM for my new PC. It will be a Socket 939 (Athlon X2), so no DDR2 support.

I'm looking at OCZ, specifically the:
OCZ EL DDR PC-3200 / 400MHz / Platinum / Revision 2 (2x512MB), what do you think?
Is it better or worse than the:
Corsair TWINX-3200XL / DDR-400 / 2-2-2-5 (2x512)

? I can get Corsair cheaper than OCZ, but I want to have a nice memory and don't mind paying for OCZ if it's worth it.

quote form the conclusion
It is with great pleasure that we award the Gold Editors Choice to OCZ for the outstanding performance of OCZ PC3200 Platinum Rev. 2 memory. This OCZ memory stands head and shoulders above the other memory tested in this roundup that are based on the same memory chips. OCZ PC3200 Platinum Revision 2 overclocked 10% higher than it's nearest rival, reaching an amazing 40% overclock on a memory rated at DDR400. Performance at DDR400 was outstanding and Platinum Rev. 2 reached the highest memory speeds achieved with any DDR400 2-2-2 memory tested in this roundup
Also not that this artcil was in august 2004 landscape have change a bit but not that much. OCZ now has the VX series, it performs incredbly well with high voltage(a dfi mobo is suggest to pump out these voltage).

Cool, thank you, I was leaning towards OCZ and you made it easier. I'm also going for the DFI mobo (Socket 939), which OCZ do you think will do better for it? Now my choice is between:

2x512MB OCZ EL DDR PC-3200 / GOLD Series VX
2x512MB OCZ EL DDR PC-3200 / PLATINUM Series / Revision 2

Platinum is somewhat more expensive than gold obviously, but I don't mind paying a little extra if it's worth it.

If you look on anandtech.com in the memory section most of your question will be answered...Nos im going to be kind and make it easier

<A HREF="http://www.anandtech.com/memory/showdoc.aspx?i=2386" target="_new">Link</A>

here's some selected quotes from the conclusion(a bit biased to make the VX look real goo read the whole article if you like hehe)

Conclusions have not really changed in our update to DDR performance testing on the DFI nForce4. Across the board, OCZ VX is the fastest memory that we have tested when comparing equivalent speeds.
In the end, the fastest memory that we have tested is OCZ PC4000 VX Gold. Across the range from DDR400 to DDR533, it outperforms any DDR memory that we have tested.

blah blah go for the gold its better and if its cheaper its even better and you can OC alll the way

:) Thanks, man, appreciate it.
The problem is I do not seem to be able to find an online store in Germany that sells the PC4000 VX. There is just the PC4000 Revision 2, not the VX version. So to me it's now more like:
OCZ EL Platinum PC3200 Revision 2
or
OCZ EL Gold PC4000 Revision2

The price is the same. Platinum has the 2-2-2-5 latency at 400MHz, Gold has the 2.5-3-3-7 Latency at 500MHz.

Id go with the platinum then its really good memory and it will probably OC at 500mhz@2.5-3-3-7 anyway. For that matter it might be the same memory with different labeling.

Gte the Platinum especially if you dont OC the DDR500 wont serve any purposes

Will do. :) I'm a newbie at this, so jumping into OC'ing right now is not appealing to me, it will take some time till I start messing with my PC. :) Thanks for the advise.

P.S. Plat PC3200 costs 186 Euros (1GB), Gold PC4000 costs 184 Euros. Either one is too pricey or the other too cheap. Or both very pricey, just one more so than the other. :D

They're worse...sorta

They're BH-UTT, VX is CH-UTT (binned accordingly). You might get lucky with the PC3200 Gold, but very doubtful. It's just better for low voltage but high performance.

The best RAM to get right now is the Mushkin Redline XP4000 stuff, it is binned better from what I can tell.

The new BH-5 in these sticks is not as good as their VX line, which uses CH-UTT, which is worse than Mushkin's Redline BH-UTT (as you mentioned). The new tested BH-5 is actually doing surprisingly poorly.

There's a difference between BH-5 and BH-UTT. BH-UTT is cheaper and worse, but Mushkin categorizes and bins it themselves and they get some GREAT sticks (Redlines). BH-5 is pre binned and more expensive (but better) and OCZ doesn't test it themselves and just dumps it on the sticks, then does some QC. On average, the new BH-5 sticks don't go past 240 2-2-2-x 95% of the time, that's what this guy is asking about.

Dang, I just randomly typed those letters. I was just joking around with Vapor. Are they really that close to being actual model numbers?
